What an environmental educator does
An environmental educator is a person in charge of planning, conducting, analyzing, and evaluating environmental education programs in organizations, institutions, companies, schools, etc. that conduct environmental education. Environmental educators are divided into three grades. Level 1 serves as the director of an environmental education institution, Level 2 acts as a middle manager, and Level 3 acts as a lecturer or commentator.

Field of Employment/Occupation
If you acquire a national qualification for environmental education, you can work as a professional instructor, commentator, or teacher. In order to be designated as a social and environmental education institution in accordance with the Environmental Education Act, mandatory employment is gradually expanding, such as hiring at least one environmental education teacher on a regular basis. Therefore, it can be said that it is a very useful qualification for those who wish to work in the field of environmental education.

Qualifications by level
Environmental educator qualifications are different for each grade. Class 1 requires strict conditions such as more than 9 years of experience and a doctoral degree, so the training course is currently not in operation. In order to apply for qualification, you must first register as a member on the website of an environmental education company and then register your resume. Apply for training education
You can easily apply for training on the website of the Environmental Educator. After clicking the [Training Application] category at the top of the main screen, go to the [Level 3 Training Application] menu. Courses that are currently being recruited are displayed as a list, and you can download the announcement to check the detailed schedule or apply for training right away. You can apply regardless of where you live, but it is recommended that you check the announcements of the nearest location.

Training personnel selection
Applicants for certification as environmental educators are selected through random lottery as training personnel and training candidates. The selection results are posted on the website of the environmental education company and the environmental education portal, and the selected participants are notified individually. If there is an unregistered or restricted subject among training participants, we will contact you from among the next-priority training candidates.

Completion of training
In order to obtain the Environmental Educator License Level 3, you must complete the basic course and practical course, and pass both the written and practical exams. All training courses (basic, practical) are charged KRW 10,000 per hour. The basic course is provided online, so the education fee is free, and you can pay 900,000 won (90 hours × 10,000 won) for the practical course.

Unemployed young people between the ages of 19 and 38, low-income people with less than 60% of the median income, and those currently working at institutions wishing to be designated as social and environmental education institutions can receive a subsidy worth KRW 1 million per person for training expenses and limited fees for the training course to acquire environmental education instructor qualifications. . If you pay the tuition first and apply for a refund after obtaining a license as an environmental educator, the education fee will be refunded.

Basic course completion
The basic training course is basically conducted online, and the minimum course time is 54 hours or more. In the case of online training, 100% attendance rate is a condition for completion, and if training is conducted offline, attendance of 80% or more is required to complete the training.

The written test is the same as the basic course. To pass, all subjects must score 40 points or higher, and the overall average must be 60 points or higher.

Completion of practical course
The practical training course lasts at least 90 hours and is conducted offline, including hands-on training, face-to-face lectures, and field visits. An attendance rate of 80% or higher is required to complete the training.

Practical evaluation is evaluated by integrating performance evaluation by subject, checklist evaluation, and portfolio evaluation. The score for each evaluation is calculated as 100 points, and in order to pass, the scores for all evaluations must be 60 points or higher and the overall average must be 70 points or higher. Failure to meet these conditions will result in disqualification.

Issuance of national license
If you complete the basic/practical course and pass the written and practical tests, you will be issued a certificate. However, issuance of a license may be restricted if a person has been sentenced to a prison sentence or higher, the probation period has not expired, or false facts are found in the documents such as career history.
